Resilience Begins at Home

Germantown is a community that takes care of each other and its surroundings. Sustainable Germantown seeks to take the spirit of community shown for so long in our food pantry and community dinners, our little league coaches and scout leaders, river cleaners and fire fighters and bring that spirit into a new set of community issues.

How can we apply what is already here to the ever more present challenge of climate change? With guidance from Climate Smart Communities and Clean Energy Communities programs, Our Climate Smart Communities Task Force seeks to take what is already here and focus on creating an economically and ecologically viable future for all of us.

We want to know what that looks like to you!
How can we make our town its best? What do you love about this place?
What keeps it your home? How can we protect that?

Sustainable Germantown is working on …

Climate Smart Communities and Clean Energy Communities programs. And through these, asking the questions: How does climate change mitigation look in a small town? How much energy do our streetlights use?  Do people compost regularly?  How can we make this a better town to walk instead of always drive? We will go fact finding with data collection, community surveys, county collaborations and more.  Once we know where we are, we can see better where we need to go and best routes for getting there.

Let’s Work Together

It is important that this work include everyone. A big part of resilience is community and that always starts with listening.
What do you know that we should too?
